As women’s network at our Faculty we are extremely proud that our founding board member Prof. dr. Martina Vijver will be the first female Scientific Director at our Faculty in over 200 years! Congratulations with this major achievement. You will be an example for, hopefully, many to follow!
As of September 1 Martina Vijver will be the scientific director of the the Institute of Environmental Sciences. She is Professor of Ecotoxicology and is among others the founder of the Living Lab, an outdoor laboratory at the Leiden Bio Science Park. Using this lab, she studies environmental pollution by pesticides, fertilisation and microplastics.
